oVirt Logo

Das oVirt Projekt hat die Version 3.6.5 veröffentlicht. oVirt versteht sich als Open-Source Alternative zu VMware vSphere und ermöglicht die Verwaltung und Konfiguration, sowie Verteilung von virtuellen KVM in einer Multi-Node-Virtualisierungsumgebung.

Neben 4 neuen Features wurden 69 Bugs behoben.

Einstellungen der Hosted Engine VM in der GUI ändern

Der Wechsel von der Per-Host Änderung in der Hosted Enging VM zur regulären Änderung in der Engine einer VM, kann via REST API oder UI, vorgenommen werden.

Damit entfällt die Änderung in der vm.conf auf jedem Host. Die Änderung selbst wird nun an einem Platz und sofort durchgeführt. Da die Änderung in der Engine DB und auf der OVF_STORE Disk auf jeder Domain durchgeführt wird, ist sie geteilt und zugleich im Backup.

MAC Adressen werden nicht sofort wiederverwertet

Als Grund hierfür ist die schnelle und häufige Änderung von virtuellen Maschinen, wodurch die verfügbaren MACs bisher sofort wiederverwendet wurden und zu Situationen führen konnte in denen die MAC noch im Netzwerk genutzt wurde, aber das Device bereits eine andere als erwartet besitzt. Nun werden die MAC-Adressen in Zyklen verwendet. D.h. es wird im Pool immer nach der nächsten freien gesucht und diese verwendet, bevor eine bereits benutzte erneut verwendet wird.
