Windows Defender ASR Problem löscht Verknüpfungen Startmenü und Taskleiste

Das am Freitag den 13.01. verteilte Microsoft Defender Update 1.381.2140.0 sorgte und sorgt noch für Aufregung, wurde aber inzwischen gelöst.

Das Update der ASR-Regeln (Attac Surface Restriction) ist für den MS Defender Antivirus, Microsoft 365 Defender und Microsoft Defender für Endpoint Plan 2 unter Windows 10 und Windows 11. Dies sorgte dafür dass Apps und der Browser Edge Shortcuts nicht mehr aufrufen können. Die Links sind quasi tot was sodass Links und Programme (Office etc.) im Startmenü, Desktop und der Taskleiste nicht mehr aufgerufen werden könne.

Betroffene Systeme sind:

• Windows 11 21H2 und 22H2
• Windows 10 20H2 bis 22H2
• Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019
• Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2016
• Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTSB

Microsoft hat den bekannten Fehler für Windows 11 2022 (22H2) offiziell bestätigt und schreibt dazu:

• After installing security intelligence update build 1.381.2140.0 for Microsoft Defender, application shortcuts in the Start menu, pinned to the taskbar, and on the Desktop might be missing or deleted.
• Affected devices have the Atack Surface Reduction (ASR) rule “Block Win32 API calls from Office macro” enabled. After installing security intelligence build 1.381.2140.0, detections resulted in the deletion of certain Windows shortcut (.lnk) files that matched the incorrect detection pattern.
• Additionally, errors might be observed when trying to run executable (.exe) files which have dependencies on shortcut files.

Inzwischen gibt es ein neues Update dass diesen Fehler in der ASR-Regel behebt. Admins sollten das Update mit Built 1.381.2164.0 installieren, bzw. daraufhin kontrollieren. Leider werden die Verknüpfungen dadurch nicht wiederhergestellt. Die Verteilung des Updates kann etwas dauern, so Microsoft.

Wem das Update noch nicht zur Verfügung steht, kann dies in der Eingabeaufforderung mit dem folgenden Befehl korrigieren:

MpCmdRun.exe -RemoveDefinitions

This issue is resolved in security intelligence update build 1.381.2164.0. Installing security intelligence update build 1.381.2164.0 or later should prevent the issue, but it will not restore previously deleted shortcuts. You will need to recreate or restore these shortcuts through other methods.

• ggf. wurden diese mittels Know Folder mit Onedrive synchronisiert und lassen sich über den Papierkorb wiederherstellen

Laut diesen Aritkel geht es per Script oder per Hand wie folgt:

Windows 10

1. Select Start  > Settings  > Apps > Apps & features
   1. Select the app you want to fix.
   2. Select Modify link under the name of the app if it is available.
   3. A new page will launch and allow you to select repair.

Windows 11

1. Type “Installed Apps” in the search bar.
   1. Click “Installed Apps”.
   2. Select the app you want to fix.
   3. Click on “…”
   4. Select Modify or Advanced Options if it is available.
   5. A new page will launch and allow you to select repair.
